COUNTING
I heard April talking to her mom about the new doctor who'd seen her for her annual checkup.
"Mom, he was GORGEOUS! He told me he was going to put his hand on my back and wanted me to say, 'Eighty-eight.'
"So I purred, 'Eighty-eight,' just like he asked.
"Then, he put his hand gently on my throat and said, 'I want you to say eighty-eight again.'
"I smiled and said, 'Eighty-eiggghhhhhhtttt.'
"'Fine,' he said, 'Now I'm going to put my hand on your chest and I want you, once more, to say eighty-eight.'
"One. Two. Three. Three and a half. Four. Four and one quarter .
